Maggie Simpson – Director General at the Rail Freight Group – has been announced as the first keynote speaker at Rolling Stock Networking 2019 (RSN).

Maggie is one of seven leading industry professionals confirmed to take the stage at the Railbusinessdaily.com conference which is being held within RSN 2019 on July 11th. During the conference, speakers drawn from train operating companies, freight operators and the broader rail industry will share their knowledge, experiences and innovative working practices during a series of sessions throughout the day.

Rail Freight Group (RFG) is the representative body for rail freight in the UK – with the aim of increasing the volume of goods moved by rail.

In her role, Maggie has been leading work to ensure that Government and rail industry policy is supportive to a growth of rail freight.

Her job is to make sure the importance of rail freight to Britain’s economic success is never overlooked.

Maggie works on campaigns to ensure politicians and key decision-makers are as well informed as possible, allowing them to make the right decisions for rail freight and for UK logistics.

And as well as being an influencer, Maggie works to promote rail freight by highlighting its many advantages– such as reliability, speed, cost-effectiveness, the benefit to the environment and the positive reduction on congestion on the country’s roads.

Previously Maggie worked in a range of passenger and freight roles at the Strategic Rail Authority and OPRAF, including freight strategy development, and franchise management. She has also worked in consultancy.

Maggie said she hopes her presence at the Railbusinessdaily.com conference will increase understanding of the freight industry and encourage businesses to consider freight rail, and in turn, help her members meet potential new customers and business partners.

Maggie will reveal what the current market is looking like and discuss trends.

She will talk about where the investment and growth are currently coming from, and give a leading insight on the challenges, opportunities and disruptors facing the rail freight industry.

Maggie will also reveal how her team are able to stay ahead of environmental agenda.
